Theme

The theme of the Asia Press Photo Contest is "Changing Asia." Asia, as it develops, is fathoming its role in the tides of globalization. More Asian countries are redefining or rediscovering its identity.
The APPC organizing committee is holding an international news photo competition. Entrants should submit photos with a focus on Asian regional peace and achievements in various fields in Asia such as society,economy, science and technology and culture.

Arrangement

The competition closes on April 30, 2006. No entries will be accepted after the date. The date of the postmark on the envelope containing the entries will be regarded as the date of entry. The judge panel of APPC will announce the competition result in mid-May 2006. All winners will be notified of the result by email,phone call or fax. The award ceremony and an exhibition will be hold on June 1,2006.

¡ñ Judging Criteria

Photographs will be judged on how well they illustrate the competition theme. Accurate sorting to appropriate categories and succinct wording in captions are highly recommended.

¡ñ Awards

There will be one Gold Prize awarded and 20 Honorary Prizes awarded for each category respectively.

Gold Prize (eight prizes) wins US$1,000 and one return ticket to Beijing Winners of the Honorary Prize (160 prizes) will have their photos published in the yearbook and featured in related exhibitions.

Members:The judging panel comprises the ANN media principal, eminent journalism scholars,photography critics,photo editors and photojournalists from around the world.

¡ñ Contestant

1,The competition is open to press photographers and photojournalists of news agencies,journals, newspapers,photo agencies and freelancers.

2,All the contestants is required to fill the form for this contest. Contestant must fill personal data and detailed explanation of your works. The form must include contestant's signature.

3,Organizing committee has the eternal right to use contest photos freely. Organizing committee can print and exhibit contest photos repeatedly. And the contestant's right to sign will be respected

4,The prize photos may be delivered on media,and to be printed and exhibited.

5, Contestant must make sure he has the right to publish, distribute and exhibit contest photos. If photos infringe person's portraiture rights, the contestant is responsible for the consequences.

6,If third party show discontent to contest photos,the contestant is responsible for all the possible legal problem.

7,The items in entry rules and form have binding force.

¡ñ How to enter

1,Single news photo must shoot between June 1,2005 to April 30,2006.

2,Group news photo must have more than 1 shoot between June 1,2005 to April 30,2006.

3,A maximum of SIX photos or photo stories/portfolios may be submitted by each entrant.

4,The stories/portfolios should be made with a set of no more than TEN photographs. Each of them must mark category and order.

5,Contestants have two ways to send their photos to the Office of the Organizing Committee of APPC.
A, Email your photos and captions with entry form to appc@chinadaily.net.cn.
B, Deliver a CD with contest photos and captions.
Photos should be JPG format with an effective pixels no less than 4.0 million. Captions in English or Chinese should be TXT documents.

6,Contest photos must have titles and complete and concise captions. Captions for foreign entries should be in English. Captions for Chinese entries should be both in Chinese and English.

7,Contest photos should be submitted in its original form without any manipulation.

8,Please note"for non-business purposes"on the envelope containing your entry form and CD. Entries must be accompanied by a completed, signed entry form and specific contact details of the entrants.

9,The decision of the panel of judges will be final and no objection will be accepted.
